CALIFORNIA POET AND NOVELIST DIANE FRANK TO READ
The North Sea Poetry Scene is very excited to host a reading by award-winning poet and novelist, Diane Frank, on Saturday 17 April 2010 at 7 p. m. at the Walt Whitman Birthplace. Reading along with Diane will be our Suffolk County Poet Laureate, Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan. In addition, there will be an open mic as time permits. Admission is $7 in advance (send a check to The North Sea Poetry Scene, 33 Woods Lane, Southampton, NY 11968) and $10 at the door.
Diane was a college classmate of our own George Wallace, in Pulitzer Prize Winner, W. D. Snodgrass’s class, at Syracuse University. She was also a student and mentee of Pulitzer Prize Winner Stephen Dunn.
Diane is the author of “Blackberries in the Dreamhouse,” a novel about forbidden love between a geisha and a Buddhist monk that won the 2003 Chelsom Award for Fiction and was nominated for the 2003 Pulitzer Prize in Fiction. She is currently working on her second novel. She has also been nominated for two Pushcart Prizes, won numerous poetry prizes and awards. She is also the author of many collections of poetry including Entering the Word Temple and The Winter Life of Shooting Stars and is editor-in-chief of Blue Light Press.
Diane holds a AB From Syracuse University in English and an MFA from San Francisco State University. She teaches at San Francisco State University..
